Eagles of Death Metal singer reveals 'kid hiding under my leather jacket' was sole survivor in Bataclan dressing room massacre
Nearly a week on from the tragedy the band playing a concert at the Batalcan theatre during the Paris attacks have spoken for the first time about the massacre in which 89 people were slaughtered at the music venue by Isis militants.
The lead singer of Eagles of Death Metal, Jesse Hughes, revealed that gunmen burst into the band's dressing room where some people had hidden.
Everyone was killed, he said, except for a small child who had hidden under his leather jacket.
The US band were playing at the Bataclan the night that gunmen attacked several locations in Paris, including the concert venue.
Mr Hughes has spoken of the terrible events at the Bataclan in an interview with Vice magazine, In an extract from that interview, sitting alongside bandmate Josh Homme, a clearly emotional Mr Hughes says: "Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them, except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket.
"People were playing dead and they were so scared.
"A great reason why so many were killed is because so many people wouldn't leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people."
